Rautahat, October 15

The Rautahat District Court has remanded suspended lawmaker Mohammad Aftab Alam in custody for seven days on Tuesday. A bench of the district judge Chitra Bahadur Gurung allowed police to continue the investigation till next Sunday while keeping the former minister in custody.

Police had arrested the Nepali Congress leader on Sunday for his alleged involvement in a blast in Rajpur of the district in April 2008.

Meanwhile, Alam told journalists that he was shocked over his arrest as it was decided to withdraw the case back in 2009. He, however, maintained that he would respect the court, hoping that the truth would come out soon.

With the judge’s approval, police took Alam back to the District Police Office.
