Rautahat acid attack victim girl succumbs to injuries

Kathmandu, September 24

The 18-year-old girl from Rautahat who was admitted to Kirtpur hospital following an acid attack has died, doctors involved in her treatment say.

Samjhana Das and her 15-year-old sister Susmita were attacked on September 11 at their home in from Chandrapur municipality-6, Rautahat.

Samjhana breathed her last at 11:30 pm on Sunday, the hospital said.

Rambabu Paswan, a local aged around 50, allegedly threw acid on the Das sisters in the night while they were asleep. Investigators said that Paswan had been following Samjhana and wanted to marry her.

The acid had burnt almost all body parts, including the face. Her sister Sushmita, however, is out of danger. Police have already arrested Paswan.
