Kathmandu, January 10

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane will not appear at the Kathmandu District Court today. Lamichhane, who was released from custody on Thursday by the Kaski District Court, is traveling to Kathmandu by road.

According to acting party spokesperson Manish Jha, Lamichhane left Pokhara by road at 10 am. He was released into his family’s custody on the condition that he would appear before the court.

However, RSP Deputy Treasurer Deepak Bohora confirmed that Lamichhane will attend the court on Sunday instead. “In coordination with the relevant authorities, he will appear at the Kathmandu District Court at 8:30 am on Sunday,” Bohora stated.

Although Lamichhane initially planned to fly to Kathmandu, he chose to travel by road due to the large number of supporters accompanying him, Jha added.

Lamichhane was arrested in Kathmandu on October 18 and held in custody in Kaski for investigation related to a case involving the Suryadarshan Cooperative.

On Thursday, the Kaski District Court, presided over by Judge Nitij Rai, ordered his release on a bail amount of Rs 6.5 million. Lamichhane deposited the amount through a bank guarantee the same evening and was subsequently handed over to his family with the condition to appear in court.
