Butwal, May 16

About 1,600 Nepalis have been left stranded in Indian border towns near Province 5. They have said they are waiting there in the hope of returning home.

According to the Rupandehi Chief District Officer Mahadev Pantha, the 1,600 people were quarantined in different Indian camps near the borders of six different districts of Nepal. They had reached the border after India resumed its railway services.

The Indian side has been leaving those in the camps located near the border. The stranded complain of lacking food, water, healthcare services, and security.

Pantha has commented that because of the delay in preparations of proper quarantine facilities in Nepal, the local authorities have not been able to bring them into the country. He adds 250 people have been sent to different quarantine locations recently.
