Province 5 Chief Minister reports decline in Biplav’s activities

Province 5 Chief Minister Shankar Pokhrel says activities of the banned communist party led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ have decreased in the province.

Speaking at a meeting of the Provincial Affairs and Law Committee of the Provincial Assembly in Butwal on Monday, Pokhrel said the banned outfit, however, had not completed ended its activities in the province yet.

“In the past, there would be a lot of incidents of sabotage during general strikes called by the party,” Pokhrel told lawmakers at the party, “Of late, their activities have significantly decreased.”

Earlier, Nepali Congress lawmaker Bhuwaneshwar Chaudhary had expressed concerns over recent activities of the banned party, highlighting fears of another war among people.

Meanwhile, the participants also raised concerns over the vandalism of five Buddha statues in Tilottama of Rupandehi district last week.
