Kathmandu, April 2
Five days after the Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited began distributing water brought to Kathmandu from the Melamchi river of Sindhupalchok, President Bidya Devi Bhandari has officially launched the distribution.
President Bhandari opened a gold-plated stone spout to mark the launch during a special function organised at Bhrikutimandap of Kathmandu, on Friday. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was also present on the occasion.
Melamchi Water Supply Project Chief Tiresh Prasad Khatri says around 15,000 users within the Ring Road of Kathmandu are receiving the water from Melamchi in the first phase.
