Petitioners claim Dipendra Jha is not qualified for Chief Attorney

File: Dipendra Jha

Kathmandu, February 20

A writ has been filed at the Supreme Court against the appointment of advocate Dipendra Jha as the Chief Attorney of Province 2.

Advocates Madhur Pathak and Dilli Prasad Neupane have moved the court against Jha, Province 2 Chief’s Office, Chief Minister’s Office and Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

In the writ, they have stated that the constitution requires the provincial Chief Attorney to have qualifications needed for a high court judge and a high court judge should have practised law for 10 years.

However, Jha has acquired the advocate’s licence just six years ago, according to them.

Earlier, Province Chief Ratneshwar Lal Kayastha had appointed Jha upon a recommendation from the Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut.
