Parsa authorities pledge legal action against those threatening religious harmony

Kathmandu, February 23

A multi-party and inclusive meeting in Parsa has resolved to take strict legal action against individuals responsible for disturbing religious harmony following the incident in Shripur, Ward 11, Birgunj, on Sunday.

The meeting, held today at the District Administration Office under the chairmanship of Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal, agreed that complaints from affected parties will be processed immediately, and religious leaders will facilitate bringing the culprits within the legal framework.

According to CDO Dahal, the meeting decided that anyone who incites or spreads content that disrupts religious or social harmony, whether through individual incidents, accidents, social media virality, or hate speech, will be promptly prosecuted under the Cyber Law and other applicable laws.

The meeting also directed that in the coming days, all citizens, political parties, media personnel, religious leaders, social organisations, and elected representatives present must issue statements from their respective institutions to maintain religious and social harmony.

Parsa Police Chief Narendra Raj Subedi reaffirmed the commitment to bring the offenders to justice. Representatives from various political parties and religious leaders attended the meeting.
