Oli government takes note of foreigners marching in Kathmandu-centric stir, draws attention of Federal Alliance

Bijaya-Gachchhadar

Biratnagar, May 16

The KP Oli government has drawn the attention of the Federal Alliance towards the involvement of foreign nationals in its Singhadurbar-centric protest on Sunday.

Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar, talking to the media at Biratnagar on Monday, said the government has taken the involvement of foreigners in encircling Singhadurbar, the government secretariat, seriously.

He asked the FA to take this matter — the involvement of foreigners in its programmes — more seriously, amid a protest in social media against foreigners’ role in the protest.

Gachchhadar, who is also president of the Madheshi Janadhikar Forum-Democratic, said United Demoratic Madheshi Front’s act of encircling the government secretariat in the name of securing rights is pointless. He said: Rights can be secured by amending the constitution, not by encircling Singhadurbar.

The UDMF’s demands should be addressed through talks and the government is ready for the same, he said, appealing the front to come for talks. People have the right to stage peaceful protests outside Singhadurbar and the government is not in favour of removing them by using force, he said.
