The Nepal Nursing Council says over 80 per cent of nurses have failed the licence exam.

The results of the Staff Nurses’ licence examination held on Saturday have cast doubt on the quality of nursing education.

According to Shakuntala Prajapati, spokesperson of the examination committee, only 246 out of the 1,270 test takers had passed.

The Council also said more than half test takers had failed the licence examination for B.Sc Nursing with only 203 of the 414 test takers passing.

“We don’t know why so many failed the PCL exam. Saturday’s exam mostly had people who had failed before. There were hardly any fresh test takers. That might be a reason for the poor results,” said Prajapati.

She said the same was the case with B.Sc Nursing.
