Kathmandu, 17 August
Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) will no longer distribute cooking gas through the special arrangements used on Saturday and Sunday.
From Monday, the corporation has asked consumers to purchase LPG through sellers appointed by the respective gas companies under the regular distribution process.
The NOC had distributed LPG through five locations on Saturday and seven locations on Sunday.
Consumers have been urged to contact the gas seller most convenient to them and purchase LPG through the regular system from Monday.
The corporation has also instructed gas companies and sellers to provide various details to make LPG distribution more organised.
Consumers without gas can contact Quick Response Team
Consumers who are unable to obtain gas from a nearby seller for any reason and urgently need LPG can contact the Quick Response Team (QRT) operated by the NOC.
The corporation has provided two numbers for the QRT: 9851455124 and 9851455128.
The NOC has introduced a five-point system to make LPG distribution more organised and effective.
According to the corporation, gas companies must provide the NOC, by 9 am every day, with details of the sellers and distributors making sales that day, including their names, addresses, contact numbers and the number of cylinders available.
Similarly, LPG sellers and distributors must maintain daily records of the quantity of gas sold, along with consumers’ names and contact numbers, and provide the details to the respective gas companies.
The gas companies must then submit the details to the NOC every seven days.
The NOC has also directed gas companies to give priority to consumers who use LPG for essential household purposes.
The corporation said it has requested the concerned district administration offices, through the Ministry of Home Affairs, to facilitate the safe transportation and distribution of LPG.
A joint team comprising NOC personnel and representatives of the Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection will also monitor LPG distribution.
The NOC has urged all concerned parties to comply with the prescribed arrangements to ensure smooth distribution of LPG.
