Ilam, June 17
Rabindra Adhikari, central member of the CPN-UML and chair of the parliamentary Development Committee, said on Friday that formation of a consensus government is not possible in the present context.
He said this while inaugurating the 22nd convention of ANNFSU’s Ilam district committee.
The Parliament promulgated the constitution on the strength of consensus but then Nepali Congress escaped from the same during the Indian blockade, the UML lawmaker said, adding: This way, the Congress provided undeclared support to the blockade.
Forming a unity government is challenging because the Congress cannot take a decision on its own, Adhikari said, adding that UML is still in favour of forming a consensus government.
On a different context, Adhikari said the KP Oli government wants to ensure coordial ties with both the neighbours and wants to increase trade with them by building a North-South Highway.
Navina Lama, central member of the ANNFSU, said the student union had been calling for a system on granting loan by accepting academic certificates as a collateral. The budget for the fiscal 2073-74 BS has addressed this demand, she said, claiming that this will reduce joblessness.
