Nepal’s campaign in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier ended with a crushing 78-run loss to Thailand in their final Super 3 match on Tuesday.
Chasing a daunting 159-run target, Nepal managed just 80 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Kavita Kunwar top-scored with 24 runs, while Rajmati Airee remained unbeaten on 20. Rubina Chhetri contributed 12 runs.
Thailand’s Onnicha Kamchomphu took four wickets, including a hat-trick in the 19th over, dismissing Roma Thapa, Ishwori Bista, and Riya Sharma. Thipatcha Putthawong claimed three wickets, while Suleeporn Laomi took one.
Batting first, Thailand posted 158 runs for 2 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Nannapat Koncharoenkai scored an unbeaten 50 off 28 balls, while opener Nattaya Boochatham also hit a half-century. Naruemol Chaiwai supported with 29 runs. Nepal’s Manisha Upadhyay and Rajmati Airee each took one wicket.
Despite the defeat, both Nepal and Thailand have secured spots in the global qualifiers. Nepal had advanced after defeating the UAE on Monday, while Thailand booked their place with a win over the UAE on Sunday.
