Jhapa: Nepal police rescue Indian child from abductors’ clutches

Police in Jhapa district of eastern Nepal say they have rescued a seven-year-old Indian child from the clutches of abductors recently.

Mahaphuj Alam from Kishorpur, Supaul of India, was missing since Thursday last week. After learning that he had been taken to Nepal, police on Tuesday rescued him.

DSP Bhim Prasad Dhakal, Chief of the District Police Office, says the personnel found out whereabouts of the child within 24 hours from receiving the information.

The law enforcers also arrested three alleged abductors. They have been identified as Badri Yadav, Shee Prasad Mukhiya and Anju Devi Mukhiya from Gauriganj of Jhaoa. Yadav is a local leader of the ruling Federal Socialist Forum Nepal.

He had contested the local elections last year.

The kidnappers had allegedly sought IRs 1.5 million ransom from the victim’s parents, according to police.
