Nepal imported drugs worth Rs 11.29 billion in last five months

Nepal imported medicines and their raw materials worth Rs 11.29 billion since the country reported the second Covid-19 case and went on lockdown on March 24, according to the government data.

Between March 24 and August 9, the country imported readymade drugs worth Rs 8.596 billion and raw materials worth Rs 2.695 billion, informs the Department of Customs. In the last 25 days of this period since the new fiscal year began on July 16, the country imported readymade drugs worth Rs 373 million and raw materials worth Rs 249 million, according to the department.

In this period, Nepal imported ‘essential goods’ worth Rs 295.562 billion in total, with the drugs being a major import.
