Nepal Covid-19 tally: Per-day new case count crosses 1,000

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 28,257 as of Tuesday afternoon.

In his daily press briefing in Kathmandu, the ministry’s spokesperson Jageshwor Gautam said 1,016 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours. Of them, 205 are from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 13,439 swab samples were tested. So far, 542,866 people have been tested in the country.

Of the total cases so far, 17,580 people have achieved recovery whereas 114 died, according to him. In the past 24 hours, 85 people have been discharged whereas seven deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 62 per cent.

The other 10,563 cases are active currently. Of them, 7,676 are isolated in hospitals across the country. The rest 2,887 are in home isolation. Likewise, eight are on ventilators.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari, and Kathmandu have more than 500 active cases each. Sankhuwasabha, Manang, Mustang, Humla, and Dolpa do not have any active cases.

Over 13,900 people are quarantined across the country, waiting to be tested.
