Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,714 new cases, 4,771 recoveries, 9 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,099,303 as of Saturday afternoon.

The ministry said 1,714 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 5,225 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 1,103 returned positive. Likewise, 3,288 underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 611 tested positive.

Of total tests, 21.11 per cent of the PCR and 18.58 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 20.13 per cent.

As of today, there are 52,780 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,346 are hospitalised, 251 in intensive care units and 49 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 4,771 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were nine deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 900,639 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,803 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 93.3 per cent and the death rate is 1.3 per cent.

Meanwhile, 588,440 people were vaccinated today.
