Nepal Covid-19 tally: 899 new cases, 588 recoveries, 7 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 39,460 as of Monday afternoon.

In his daily press briefing in Kathmandu, the ministry’s spokesperson Jageshwor Gautam said 899 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours. Of the new cases, 298 are in the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 11,129 swab samples were tested. So far, 693,472 people have been tested in the country.

Of the total cases so far 21,410 people have achieved recovery whereas 228 died, according to him. In the past 24 hours, 588 people have been discharged whereas seven deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 54 per cent.

The other 17,822 cases are active currently. Of them, 10,701 are isolated in hospitals across the country. The rest 7,121 are in home isolation.

Of those hospitalised, 132 are in intensive care units and 16 on ventilators.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Sunsari, Dhanusha, Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Bara, Chitwan, Rupandehi, Lalitpur, and Kathmandu have more than 500 active cases each. Mustang and Humla do not have any active cases.

Over 7,300 people are quarantined across the country, waiting to be tested.
