Nepal Covid-19 tally: 838 new cases, 250 recoveries, 11 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, August 21

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 30,483 as of Friday afternoon.

In his daily press briefing in Kathmandu, the ministry’s spokesperson Jageshwor Gautam said 838 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 13,589 swab samples were tested. So far, 579,899 people have been tested in the country.

Of the total cases so far, 18,214 people have achieved recovery whereas 137 died, according to him. In the past 24 hours,  250 people have been discharged whereas 11 deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 59.8 per cent.

The other 12,132 cases are active currently. Of them, 8,546 are isolated in hospitals across the country. The rest 3,589 are in home isolation.

Likewise, 133 are in intensive care units and 15 are on ventilators.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari, Sarlahi, and Kathmandu have more than 500 active cases each. Bhojpur, Myagdi, Mustang, and Humla do not have any active cases.

Over 12,200 people are quarantined across the country, waiting to be tested.
