Nepal Covid-19 tally: 743 new cases, 175 recoveries, 8 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 32,678 as of Monday afternoon.

In his daily press briefing in Kathmandu, the ministry’s spokesperson Jageshwor Gautam said 743 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours. Of them, 224 cases were reported from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 10,234 swab samples were tested. So far, 610,869 people have been tested in the country.

Of the total cases so far 18,806 people have achieved recovery whereas 157 died, according to him. In the past 24 hours, 175 people have been discharged whereas eight deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 58 per cent.

The other 13,715 cases are active currently. Of them, 9,154 are isolated in hospitals across the country. The rest 4,561 are in home isolation. Of those hospitalised, 138 are in intensive care units and 15 are on ventilators.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Bara, and Kathmandu have more than 500 active cases each. Mustang, and Humla do not have any active cases.

Over 11,200 people are quarantined across the country, waiting to be tested.
