Nepal Covid-19 tally: 707 new cases, 259 recoveries, 6 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 29,645 as of Thursday afternoon.

In his daily press briefing in Kathmandu, the ministry’s spokesperson Jageshwor Gautam said 707 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours. Of them, 200 are from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 11,832 swab samples were tested. So far, 566,220 people have been tested in the country.

Of the total cases so far, 17,964 people have achieved recovery whereas 126 died, according to him. In the past 24 hours,  259 people have been discharged whereas six deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 61 per cent.

The other 11,555 cases are active currently. Of them, 8,083 are isolated in hospitals across the country. The rest 3,772 are in home isolation. Among those in hospitals, 129 are in intensive care units and seven are on ventilators.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari, Sarlahi, and Kathmandu have more than 500 active cases each. Bhojpur, Manang, Mustang, and Humla do not have any active cases.

Over 11,700 people are quarantined across the country, waiting to be tested.
