Nepal Covid-19 tally: 581 new cases, 160 recoveries, three deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, August 17

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 27,241 as of Monday afternoon.

In his daily press briefing in Kathmandu, the ministry’s spokesperson Jageshwor Gautam said 581 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours. Of them, 168 are from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 11,520 swab samples were tested. So far, 529,427 people have been tested in the country.

Of the total cases so far, 17,495 people have achieved recovery whereas 107 died, according to him. In the past 24 hours, 160 people have been discharged whereas three deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 64.2 per cent.

The other 9,639 cases are active currently. Of them, 7,038 are isolated in hospitals across the country. The rest 2,601 are in home isolation. Likewise, 113 are in intensive care units and six are on ventilators.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari, and Kathmandu have more than 500 active cases each. Sankhuwasabha, Manang, Mustang, Humla, and Dolpa do not have any active cases.

Over 15,100 people are quarantined across the country, waiting to be tested.
