Nepal Covid-19 tally: 280 new cases, 300 recoveries, 6 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, December 15

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 920,889 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry said 280 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 9,212 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 252 returned positive. Likewise, 2,872 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 28 tested positive.

Of total tests, 2.73 per cent of the PCR and 0.97 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 2.33 per cent.

As of today, there are 5,635 active cases across the country. Of them, 282 are hospitalised, 112 in intensive care units and 25 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 300 people have achieved recovery whereas six deaths were reported.

Of the total cases so far, 807,816 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,565 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.9 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 2,523 people were vaccinated today.
