Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,539 new cases, 1,069 recoveries, 8 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, September 16

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 58,327 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry says 1,539 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 10,494 swab samples were tested. So far 872,274 people have been tested in the country.

Of the total cases so far, 41,706 people have achieved recovery whereas 379 died, according to the ministry. In the past 24 hours, 1,068 people have been discharged whereas eight deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 71.5 per cent.

The other 16,242 cases are active currently. Of them, 8,541 are hospitalised whereas the remaining 7,701 are in home isolation.

Of those hospitalised, 173 are in intensive care units, and 26 are on ventilators.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Siraha, Sunsari, Makawanpur, Kathmandu, Chitwan, Bhaktapur, and Rupandehi have more than 500 active cases each. Solukhumbu, Mustang, Myagdi, Dolpa, Mugu, and Humla do not have any active cases.

Over 7,800 people are quarantined across the country, waiting to be tested.
