Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,221 new cases, 267 recoveries, 14 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 38,561 as of Sunday afternoon.

In his daily press briefing in Kathmandu, the ministry’s spokesperson Jageshwor Gautam said 1,221 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.  There are 429 new cases in the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 12,717 swab samples were tested. So far, 682,343 people have been tested in the country.

Of the total cases so far 20,822 people have achieved recovery whereas 221 died, according to him. In the past 24 hours, 267 people have been discharged whereas 14 deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 54 per cent.

The other 17,518 cases are active currently. Of them, 10,612 are isolated in hospitals across the country. The rest 6,906 are in home isolation. Of those hospitalised, 144 are in intensive care units and 17 are on ventilators.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Dhanusha, Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Bara, Chitwan, Rupandehi, Lalitpur, and Kathmandu have more than 500 active cases each. Mustang and Humla do not have any active cases.

Nearly 7,800 people are quarantined across the country, waiting to be tested.
