Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,111 new cases, highest ever in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 35,529 as of Thursday afternoon.

In his daily press briefing in Kathmandu, the ministry’s spokesperson Jageshwor Gautam said 1,111 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.  This is the highest number of new cases ever recorded in 24 hours.

Of the new cases, 377 are from the Kathmandu valley.

In this period, 12,629 swab samples were tested. So far, 647,881 people have been tested in the country.

Of the total cases so far 20,073 people have achieved recovery whereas 183 died, according to him. In the past 24 hours, 569 people have been discharged whereas eight deaths have been reported. Nepal’s current recovery rate is around 56 per cent.

The other 15,273 cases are active currently. Of them, 9,063 are isolated in hospitals across the country. The rest 6,210 are in home isolation. Of those hospitalised, 17 are on ventilators.

The disease has spread across all 77 districts of the country. Of them, Morang, Dhanusha, Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Bara, Lalitpur, and Kathmandu have more than 500 active cases each. Mustang and Humla do not have any active cases.

Over 9,400 people are quarantined across the country, waiting to be tested.
