Nepal Covid-19 tally: 10,319 new cases, 2,540 recoveries, 4 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, January 24

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,033,626 as of Monday afternoon.

The ministry said 10,319 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 16,654 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 8,058 returned positive. Likewise, 4,547 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 2,265 tested positive.

Of total tests, 48.38 per cent of the PCR and 49.81 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 48.67 per cent.

As of today, there are 82,550 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,771 are hospitalised, 238 in intensive care units and 43 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 2,540 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were four deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 824,239 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,659 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 89.7 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 119,371 people were vaccinated today.
