NCP objects to ‘imperialist coup’ in Venezuela

Pushpa Kamal Dahal

Kathmandu, January 25

Nepal’s ruling Nepal Communist Party on Friday expressed is objection to the recent change of power in Venezuela, claiming it was an ‘imperialist coup’ plotted by the United States.

The party’s Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal issued an statement reads, “The self declaration of Juan Guaido as the acting president of Venezuela and immediate recognition of him by the US and other regional states clearly shows the grand design going on against the legitimately elected President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, and Venezuelan people.”

Dahal says the US made the plot “with an intention of increasing violence by dividing the people and challenging democracy, sovereignty and peace.”

The party has claimed it is a serious challenge to the UN Charter and the principle of peaceful coexistence.

In the statement, Dahal has urged other sovereign countries and the United Nations to stand for the people of Venezuela and its people in their struggle to defend the solidarity.
