Dhangadhi, January 31

After some ministers of the provincial cabinet went to Kathmandu to attend the central committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party, regular functions of the Provincial Assembly have been affected in Sudurpaschim province. A meeting of the legislative body called for Friday has been put off consequently.

The Provincial Assembly Secretariat’s secretary Ram Singh Dhami says the meeting has been postponed after the Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Prakash Shah is in Kathmandu. The secretariat had planned to table a bill on FM radios and televisions during the meeting today.

Now, the meeting has been called for Sunday, according to Dhami.

Meanwhile, the main opposition Nepali Congress has objected to the decision to postpone the meeting. The parliamentary party’s leader Rana Bahadur Rawal says the responsible minister being absent in an important meeting was also not appropriate.
