NCP calls meeting to choose department heads

File: A meeting of Nepal Communist Party Secretariat

Kathmandu, July 28

Ruling Nepal Communist Party has called a meeting of its secretariat to choose leaders of various internal departments.

The meeting was postponed last week after multiple leaders staked their claim to the leadership positions. In particular, more than two leaders staked claim to the leadership of school department, leaving the party leadership indecisive.

However, the secretariat will try to discuss proposed names once again and finalise the disputes, according to sources.

The meeting has been called for Sunday afternoon at the official residence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Earlier on Saturday, two chairs of the party–Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal–had met to discuss possible options for ending the school department dispute. If the Sunday meeting fails to find an agreement over the department, the two chairs will not assign anyone to lead the department and retain it with themselves, a leader close to the Saturday meeting informs.
