NC-UML clash halts voting at Bhotsipa in Sindhupalchok

Chautara, May 14

A clash between representatives of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML halted voting at Bhotsipa voting centre in Indrawati Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchok district.

Police had opened fire in the air to contain the situation. However, the voting is yet to resume.

Police said the clash was erupted after the UML protested efforts of Nepali Congress to use force in the peaceful voting.

Efforts are underway to resume the process.

Meanwhile, voting was halted for some time at Kharpu voting centre in Humla district.

CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre have accused Nepali Congress leader and Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation Jeeban Bahadur Shahi of trying to capture the booth.

Shahi is a voter of Kharpu village.
