A fire triggered by an electrical short circuit at a livestock farm in Sindhupalchok’s Chautara Sangachokgadhi Municipality-1, Gunsa, killed 50 goats on Tuesday morning. One person was injured while attempting to douse the flames.
According to SP Rameshwar Karki, chief of the Sindhupalchok District Police Office, the fire broke out around 8:30 a.m. at Vidan Vidhi Agriculture and Livestock Farm, registered under the name of Bimala Shrestha. Of the 85 goats kept at the farm, 50 were burned to death, six were injured, and 29 were rescued.
Local resident Chudamani Shrestha, 44, sustained injuries to his head and hand while helping to extinguish the fire. He is currently undergoing treatment at Chautara Hospital.
Police said the fire was brought under complete control with the support of locals and security personnel.
