A meeting of the Naya Shakti Party Nepal

Kathmandu, July 28

The Naya Shakti Party Nepal led by former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai on Friday dissolved its Federal Executive Committee as the first step to prepare for its first general convention.

The party is planning to hold the general convention to elect the first national leadership by May next year.

During a meeting of the Federal Council in Kathmandu today, all members of the Executive Committee had tendered resignation to pave way for the formation of General Convention Organising Committee.

The meeting also elected Bhattarai coordinator of the Committee. Bhattarai has proposed to form a 99-member Committee to hold the convention.

A leader says the Committee will be formed very soon.

Bhattarai had quit the then Unified CPN-Maoist in September 2015 and formed the new party in June 2016.
