Kathmandu, January 21
Nepal Police personnel in Morang have arrested the district in-charge of the Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’-led Maoist party on the charge of murdering a local teacher.
Rajendra Shrestha, 54, a teacher of local Saraswati Basic School in Miklajung of the district, was shot dead by the party on December 8, 2020. Although the party had already claimed its responsibility, the law enforcers were unable to find a culprit.
But, on Wednesday, Dhan Bahadur BK aka DB Silwal, was arrested at Budhiganga rural municipality-4 of the district, according to the District Police Officer.
DSP Man Bahadur Rai says police also confiscated a semi-automatic pistol, three rounds of bullets, and a motorbike from his possession.
Further investigation is underway.
Owing to the Biplav party‘s involvement in terrorist activities, the government has banned it since 2019.
