Minister Magar: Water from Melamchi will reach Kathmandu homes by Dashain

Kathmandu, March 21

Minister for Water Supply Bina Magar says water from the Melamchi Drinking Water Project will reach homes in Kathmandu by Dashain, the biggest festival of Nepal which falls in October this year.

Minister Magar also says that water from the project will start flowing in Sundarijal, on the outskirts of Kathmandu, within 25 days, Speaking at a programme in the capital, the minister said that she has already directed authorities concerned to expedite the work on the project.

The project aims to divert 170 MLD of water from Melamchi River through a 25.83 km long tunnel, to reservoirs in Mahankal, and Sundarijal where the water will be stored, and treated.
