MCC’s Nepal manager asks Parliament to endorse deal in this session

Kathmandu, December 22

The Millennium Challenge Account Nepal, a government-formed body commissioned to manage the programmes to be developed under an agreement between the government of Nepal and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) of the United States, has urged the government and parties in Parliament to endorse the agreement in this session of the legislative.

The two-year-old deal’s implementation is pending as the Federal Parliament has not endorsed the document. The MCA-Nepal’s urge comes at a time when some leaders of the ruling Nepal Communist Party have objected to the deal claiming the US government is wooing Nepal to join the Indo-Pacific Strategy with the grant support.

Organising a press meeting in Kathmandu on Sunday, MCA-Nepal’s Executive Director Khadga Bahadur Bisht said his agency was committed to completing the projects on time.
