Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said on Wednesday there will be no dearth of electricity in the country within the next two years. He claimed load-shedding will end within a year.

“People laugh when I say load-shedding will end in a year,” Oli said while addressing a gathering of CPN-UML cadres in Ratnanagar, Chitwan. “In two years, people will get electricity as per their need.”

With the constitution already promulgated, the government will now focus on development works, Oli said. My visit to India cleared misunderstanding between Nepal and India, he said, adding: The recent visit to China has taken Nepal-China relations to new heights.

Prime Minister Oli pledged to turn the East-West Highway into a six-lane artery, construct a two-lane road linking Kerung and Kathmandu within two years and making the country self-sufficient on food production within the same period.

Oli, inaugurating the annual general meeting of Nepal Construction Entrepreneurs’ Federation, directed builders to speed up post-quake reconstruction work. The government is aware of people’s problems, he said, adding: Agitations will serve no purpose.

The government is aware of hardships that construction entrepreneurs are facing because of last year’s quakes and the blockade, he said, adding that the government is ready to extend construction contracts by a year.
