Kathmandu, May 10

Police in Kathmandu have detained a few protesters who came to the streets of Baneshwar chanting slogans against the Indian government on Sunday.

After Indian Minister for Defence Rajnath Singh announced the inauguration of a link road to Manasarovar that passes through a disputed land which both Nepal and India claim to be theirs, the youth in Kathmandu are protesting the move despite lockdown restrictions.

This morning also, the young men came outside the Parliament building in Baneshwar, chanting slogans like “Save the border”, but police detained them.

On Saturday, the law enforcers had detained student leaders close to the ruling party while they were preparing to stage a protest outside the Indian Embassy.
