Kathmandu, November 9
Nepal Army Chief General Prabhu Ram Sharma has left Kathmandu for New Delhi of India on Tuesday, on a four-day visit to India.
During his visit, on Wednesday, General Sharma will be conferred upon the rank of an honorary general of the Indian Army by Indian President Ram Nath Kovind. For decades, the two armies of the neighbouring countries have been giving honorary top ranks of their own institution to the chief of the other.
Lieutenant General Bal Krishna Karki saw off Sharma at the Tribhuvan International Airport, in Kathmandu this morning.
The national army institution says COAS General Sharma is scheduled to hold meetings with Indian Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, Chief of the Army Staff General MM Naravane and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Bal Krishna Karki will be officiating the COAS of the Nepal Army, says the army.
Sharma will be returning to Nepal on Friday.
