Kathmandu, August 7
An arrest warrant has been issued against four former ministers in connection to the Lalita Niwas land case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) has issued arrest warrants against former ministers Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, Sanjay Kumar Shah, Chandra Dev Joshi and Dambar Shrestha, a source told Onlinekhabar.
Gachchdar, Joshi and Shrestha were also defendants in the corruption case conducted by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
CIB has issued an arrest warrant against 406 people including four former secretaries in connection to the Lalita Niwas land case.
An arrest warrant has been issued against the then secretaries Deep Basnyat, Chabiraj Pant, Dinesh Hari Adhikari and Narayan Gopal Malego for being involved in the transfer of government land of Lalita Niwas to individuals. Among them, Sudhir Shah, a former joint secretary, has been arrested, while Deep Basnyat, who is also the former chief commissioner of the CIAA is on the run.
The door has also opened to investigate former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and Baburam Bhattarai.
