Kathmandu, June 4
The Kamal Thapa-led Rastriya Prajatantra Party has finally decided to vote in favour of the only candidate in the race to become Prime Minister, the Nepali Congress’ Sher Bahadur Deuba.
A meeting of the RPP’s Parliamentary Party decided to back Deuba’s candidacy a few hours after leaders said the party should support Deuba only if he was ready to offer the post of Deputy Prime Minister to the RPP.
RPP spokesperson Mohan Shrestha, however, said there was no controversy on the issue and the leaders were united in the decision to back Deuba.
According to a source, Deuba has promised four ministerial berths to the RPP.
