Kathmandu, June 16

Former prime minister Jhala Nath Khanal has been taken to New Delhi of India for further treatment.

Khanal was admitted to the Norvic Hospital in Kathmandu on Monday after he reported post-Covid-19 symptoms. He had Covid-19 last month and was hospitalised for 10 days.

However, as his situation did not improve, the family decided to take him to the Apollo Hospital in the Indian capital for additional medical care.

The hospital says the senior CPN-UML leader has a blood infection and some lung problems also. It had started treatment suspecting he had chronic pneumonia.

“But, the family wanted to take him to India as he was receiving treatment from there since a long ago,” Norvic Hospital’s Public Relations Officer Som Nath Bastola says, “It’s not because we couldn’t heal him.”

Reportedly, Khanal also has some kidney problems. The Delhi hospital has already advised kidney transplantation for him.
