The Federal Parliament Secretariat informs that Sarita Giri has lost her position as a lawmaker.

In a notice today, the secretariat’s General Secretary Bharat Raj Gautam informs her party, People’s Socialist Party Nepal, has informed that Giri was removed from the position, and, hence, she should be removed from the House of Representatives as per the Act on Political Parties, and the House Regulations.

Earlier on Tuesday, the party had decided to take action against her for disobeying a party whip last month.

The party had directed all of its lawmakers to vote in favour of the constitution amendment bill registered by the government. However, Giri had filed an amendment proposal against the sentiment of the bill brought to constitutionally recognise the country’s new political map.

While defying the party order to withdraw the proposal, she had also boycotted the voting.

Subsequently, the party had formed a task force to recommend action against her.
