Birgunj, May 9

India has agreed that it will let Nepal fetch petroleum products from Raxaul even if it closes the Birgunj border point considering elections in Bihar.

Officials  of Nepal and India have decided to close the border point from Friday to Sunday as there is another round of election in Bihar on Sunday.

Parsa’s Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Bhattarai informs that the officials have informed the fuel tankers can ply the road uninterrupted as it is an essential consumable.

The border would close for 48 hours in previous elections. However, it has been extended to 72 hours now owing to security concerns of the other side, according to Bhattarai.

He adds that that government agencies in the neighbourhood across the border have also requested Nepali media of border cities not to disseminate any message about the election.
