The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee says it has received five complaints against the Constitutional Council’s recommendation that Acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshee be promoted to the vacant position of Chief Justice at Nepal’s Supreme Court.
The Committee has also decided to conduct a hearing over the complaints with Joshee on Thursday. A meeting of the Committee held today fixed the date.
The Committee’s seniormost member Laxman Lal Karna says the panel has summoned complainants to clarify their complaints on Tuesday.
The Committee has begun studies into the complaints today itself.
The President will appoint Joshee the Chief Justice only after the panel, comprising members of both House of Representatives and National Assembly, endorses his name.
