Govt will intervene to save Melamchi project from failure: Dahal

Pushpa Kamal Dahal

Kathmandu, May 10

Ruling Nepal Communist Party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal says the government led by his party’s another chairman KP Sharma Oli will intervene if necessary in order to save the Melamchi Water Supply Project from its failure.

Dahal says his party and the government are committed to making the project a success and providing the Melamchi water to residents of Kathmandu Valley.

Speaking at a function organised by a trade union of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited staff in Kathmandu on Friday, Dahal said, “I and the Prime Minister are determined that the leadership should intervene and bring the Melamchi project.”

He informed that the government was aware about various efforts being made to block the project. “Unless the government takes strong initiatives, the project seems quite difficult.”
