Germany donates 4.1 million doses of Moderna, J&J Covid-19 vaccines to Nepal

Kathmandu, December 16

Germany, via the Covax facility, has provided over 4.1 million doses of Moderna and J&J Covid-19 vaccines to Nepal on Thursday.

The Ministry of Health and Population says Germany handed over 1.965 million doses of Moderna and 2.176 million doses of J&J Covid-19 vaccines today.

The vaccines will be given to the adolescents aged 12-18, the ministry’s spokesperson Dr Sangita Kaushal Mishra says.

According to her, a new vaccination campaign will be launched from coming Sunday targeting the age group.

Meanwhile, the ministry informs 38.2 per cent of the total population of the country have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine so far whereas the ratio of those receiving full doses is 31 per cent.

Among the targeted population, however, the ratio of those receiving the first dose is 58.2 per cent and that of those receiving all doses is 47.2 per cent.
