Dhangadhi, June 3

The Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi has refused to admit five newly diagnosed Covid-19 patients from Gauriganga municipality-5 of Kailali citing lack of space in its isolation ward.

After the hospital’s refusal, the patients have been kept inside a hall belonging to a local temple, according to Gauriganga mayor Bhim Deuba.

“This is a temporary arrangement,” Deuba says, “We are discussing where the patients will be sent.” He informs that the municipality is also preparing to construct its own isolation ward for similar cases in the future.

“Our hospital has a 24-bed isolation ward, but we have already admitted 25 patients,” the hospital’s information officer Dilip Shrestha says, adding the hospital is coordinating with the local government to provide treatment to them.

Of the men aged between 19 and 32, two have reported some health problems recently whereas the three are normal, according to the mayor.
