Bhimduttanagar, April 28
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwar Pokharel has assured an increase of social security allowance to the senior citizens in the upcoming budget statement.
During the inaugural ceremony of the fourth city council of Bedkot Municipality in Kanchanpur today, the DPM announced that the senior citizens’ allowance would be increase to Rs 5,000 per month per person.
He rebuffed reports the government was gradually cutting off the social security allowance.
He took time to claim that the government was working to create an image of prosperity within the current fiscal year.
“In the past, the government changed; but now the system has changed,” he said, describing development of agriculture, water resources, industry and tourism as the major base for prosperity.
Advising people’s representatives to internalise people’s needs while performing their duties, he pledged to make initiations for the establishment of Daijee Chhela Industrial Zone and for the construction of Daijee –Jogbudha road.
