Eight people died due to dengue in Dharan in 2023.

According to data, 2,353 cases have been reported in the sub-metropolitan city so far.

Due to the increase in infection, a separate dengue ward has been set up at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences to accommodate up to 150 people.

A separate clinic for dengue is also being run at the hospital.

Umesh Mehta, public health officer of Dharan sub-metropolitan city, said the infection rate right now is 59 per cent.

Mehta added a search and destroy campaign is being conducted in Dharan to control dengue.

Dengue is spreading rapidly across the country.
